What makes ChatGPT text recognisable
Readers rarely spot ChatGPT text because of one word. They notice a pile-up of habits. Once you know the six most common ones, you can fix most of them in minutes.
Stock phrases
delve into, it's important to note, in today's fast-paced world, leverage, seamless. Filler that sounds formal and says nothing.
Polite openers and summary closers
"I hope this finds you well", "Great question!", then "In conclusion" or "Overall" restating what you just read.
Everything in threes
"Efficiency, creativity and growth." Lists of three adjectives or benefits that exist for rhythm, not because there are exactly three.
Same-length sentences
Every sentence runs 18 to 25 words with the same structure. People mix long sentences with short ones. Like this.
Generic examples
"Businesses of all sizes", "many professionals". No names, numbers, places or first-hand detail.
Over-formatting and hedging
Bold headings in a three-paragraph email, bullets for everything, and "can potentially help" where "helps" would do.
How to humanize ChatGPT text, step by step
MultipleChat's Humanize mode rewrites the text you give it. It does not answer it. Per the documentation, it removes AI clichés, varies sentence rhythm and length, and preserves every fact and meaning exactly.
Open the model selector
Click the model selector next to the send button and choose AI Team. The AI Team configuration modal opens.
Assign models to slots
Tap model icons to fill the slots (slot 1 = first model, slot 2 = second model). You can mix ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok.
Pick Humanize
Choose Humanize from the mode pill buttons at the bottom of the modal.
Click Go Live
Click Go Live to save your team and close the modal.
Paste the ChatGPT text as your prompt
Paste the text itself and send it. Don't ask a question or add "please rewrite this"; Humanize treats whatever you send as the text to rewrite.
Make it yours
Read the result against your original, then add your own details and opinions using the checklist below.
Plan note: Humanize is one of the AI Collaboration modes in the Pro plan ($20/month), alongside Smart, Debate, Research and others.
Before and after: 5 ChatGPT humanizer examples
These are illustrative examples written for this guide. They show typical ChatGPT patterns and a natural rewrite, not saved output from any tool. Notice that the best rewrites add something only the writer knows.
1. Client follow-up email
Fixes: polite opener, fillerBefore
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to follow up on our recent discussion regarding the project timeline. It's important to note that alignment on key deliverables is crucial for seamless collaboration moving forward.
After
Hi Sara, following up on Tuesday's call. Can we lock the launch date by Friday? Once it's set, I'll send the updated deliverables list.
The ask moves to the second sentence. "Tuesday" and "Friday" come from you: no humanizer can know them.
2. LinkedIn post
Fixes: rule of three, generic claimBefore
In today's fast-paced digital landscape, leveraging AI tools has become essential for professionals seeking to unlock their full potential. Here are three key takeaways: efficiency, creativity, and growth.
After
I used AI for every first draft last month. It saved me about four hours a week and cost me two typos I'd normally have caught. Worth it, but I now read everything twice.
A first-person experience with a real trade-off replaces three abstract nouns.
3. Product description
Fixes: empty adjectivesBefore
Elevate your morning routine with our innovative coffee grinder, meticulously designed to deliver a seamless and unparalleled brewing experience.
After
A burr grinder with 40 settings, from espresso-fine to French-press coarse. Quiet enough to use before the rest of the house is up.
Concrete specs and one sensory detail do the selling that "innovative" and "unparalleled" only claim.
4. Essay paragraph
Fixes: "multifaceted", "delve"Before
Climate change is a multifaceted issue that encompasses a wide range of environmental, economic, and social dimensions. It is crucial to delve into these aspects to fully understand its impact.
After
Climate change isn't one problem. It's a set of linked ones (failing harvests, rising insurance costs, people forced to move) and each looks different depending on where you live.
A short opening sentence, then examples instead of categories. For coursework, follow your institution's rules on AI use.
5. Cover letter opening
Fixes: stock enthusiasmBefore
I am writing to express my keen interest in the Marketing Manager position. With my extensive experience and passion for innovation, I am confident that I would be a valuable asset to your dynamic team.
After
I'd like to apply for the Marketing Manager role. For three years I've run email campaigns for a 12-person SaaS company, and I want to do that work at a larger scale.
Evidence replaces adjectives about yourself. The numbers are the writer's own.
Manual editing checklist
Whether or not you use a tool first, a five-minute pass with this list does most of the work.
- Read it aloud and mark every sentence you wouldn't actually say.
- Delete the polite opener and the "In conclusion" closer.
- Replace stock phrases (delve, leverage, seamless, crucial, landscape, unlock) with plain words, or with nothing.
- Vary sentence length: give each paragraph at least one short sentence.
- Swap one generic example for a specific one from your own work or life.
- Break up lists of three that only exist for rhythm.
- Strip bold text, headings and bullets from short emails and posts.
- Check every fact, number, name and quote against a source.
- Make sure the opinion in the text is one you actually hold.
This guide vs. the AI Humanizer page
This page is about ChatGPT output specifically: its habits, and how to rewrite them. If your draft comes from Claude, Gemini or another model, or you want an overview of the tool itself, see the AI Humanizer page.
One thing both have in common: humanizing is about readability and voice, not about hiding where a draft came from. No rewrite can promise how a detector will score a text. Where disclosure is required, disclose.

How do I humanize ChatGPT text?
Cut the stock opener and summary closer, replace clichés with plain words, vary sentence length, add details only you know, and check every fact.
